World class silicones for worldwide solutions

Silicone quat microemulsion

Silicone Quat Microemulsion

Quaternary silicones, or “silicone quats”, are a unique cationically modified class of siloxanes that combine the anti-static, surface binding characteristics of quaternary amines with a flexible dimethyl silicone backbone. This combination provides high temperature stability, textile and hair softening and low surface tension along with a variety of other useful technical attributes:

  • High affinity to substrates
  • Exhaustive deposition (little in the formulation goes a long way on surfaces)
  • Easy to formulate
  • Booster for other ingredients in formulations
  • Hydrophobic or Hydrophilic – depends on the customizable polymer and end use
  • pH independent
  • Infinitely dilutable

Microemulsions

For straightforward applications in aqueous formulations, CHT offers easy to use microemulsions or concentrates based on different silicone quat chemistries. The products can be readily diluted with water and do not require a complex emulsification process. Typical applications for quaternary silicones are:

  • Personal care (most commonly hair care)
  • Slip aids
  • Mold release
  • Fabric softeners
  • Car care
  • Home care, including cleaners
  • Lubricants
  • Leather chemical additives
  • Agro chemicals
